Choosing to Walk Through an Open Door

Have you ever heard the expression, "When one door closes, another one opens"? Lately, I've been contemplating this idea, and recently, a new opportunity has presented itself to me. However, I find myself questioning whether this door was opened by a higher power. While I believe it could be an answer to my prayers, I'm uncertain about the best course of action. To seek guidance, I turn to the scriptures, seeking passages that can shed light on discerning the answer.

One crucial realization I've had is that God never leads us astray through temptation or challenges. He remains unwavering in His teachings and principles, and He would never open a door that goes against them or tests Him. God's gifts are meant to inspire and guide us, never to lead us into sinful paths. Therefore, it is vital to discern whether this door truly represents an opportunity from God.

As flawed individuals, we often find ways to rationalize our circumstances and justify our choices. However, deep down, we know when something doesn't align with the right path. If we find ourselves selectively ignoring or distorting Scripture to find comfort in this door, it's a clear sign that it wasn't opened by God. In such instances, we would be deceiving ourselves and straying from the right course.

The next step in evaluating this door is to consider whether stepping through it would make us feel disobedient or go against our values and purpose. Will this door enable personal growth and contribute to the well-being of others? These factors are crucial when determining if this door is indeed a path provided by God.

We should also consider that walking through this door should deepen our dependence on God. He never gives us something for which He hasn't prepared us. He equips us with the necessary skills and talents to carry out His work. Let us remember the teachings of Paul in Hebrews 11:6, "And without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He rewards those who seek Him." Pleasing God and affirming our growth in Him requires faith.

If you still feel uncertain, seek wisdom through prayer and seek godly counsel from those you trust. Listen to your inner voice and have confidence in your decision to walk through. However, always remember that an open door is never sealed behind you. If entering through it feels wrong, have the courage to turn around and close the door behind you. Be patient and trust that the Lord will open another door for you. Understand that God works in His timing, not ours. If you have a strong desire for something, exercise extra caution, as you cannot control what God has planned for your life. He will make His plans clear to you when the time is right.
